Module 2: Lesson 4
Students will analyze and interpret data on how fish use Marine Protected Areas, play a field game that models MPAs, and create their own MPA with regulations created by different stakeholders.
Lesson Plan
Essential Questions: How can creating Marine Protected Areas provide evidence for how resource availability and human activity affect individual organisms, populations, communities and ecosystems?
Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
- Evaluate and communicate information to examine the interdependence of organisms with one another and their environment in terms of a marine ecosystem that is being used by multiple stakeholders
- Analyze and interpret data to provide evidence for how resource availability and human activity affect individual organisms, populations, communities and ecosystems with a marine sanctuary by understanding the connectivity of organisms and the importance of resource management
- Create a connection between an abundance in resources, management and a balance within an ecosystem
