Module 2: Lesson 3
Students will characterize and identify fish to then play a memory game with different fish species. They will then analyze and interpret fish density and abundance data from the REEF (Reef Environmental Education Foundation) database.
Lesson Plan
Essential Questions: How can fish be categorized by their characteristics? What is the six-kingdom system?
Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
- Identify species of fish based on observation
- Develop and defend a model that categorizes fish species based on their characteristics.
- Evaluate historical models of how fish were classified and where they (and other marine life) fall in the six-kingdom system
- Analyze and interpret data sets and provide evidence on how resource availability and human activity may affect populations of reef fish such as parrotfish and ecosystems throughout the Caribbean
