Dive In - Henry's Law

Module 1: Lesson 3

Students will demonstrate gas laws relating to partial pressure in action through a design lab. They will then apply concepts learned to calculate dive tables for mock missions - an important step for scuba divers and scientists planning their dives.

Lesson Plan

Essential Question: How can you use concepts found in Henry's law and Avogadro’s number to conceptualize and calculate percent composition, molecular formulas, and molar mass of gasses?

Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Use mathematics and conceptual thinking too apply concepts of the mole
  • Calculate percent composition, molecular formulas, and molar mass of gasses. Understand how Henry’s law relates to scuba diving
