SOS - Rising Seas

Module 3: Lesson 3

Students will create a model of a coastal community using real-life scenarios from NOAA data to test what happens when ice sheets melt and sea levels rise. This experiment in the classroom will serve as a model of what is happening to coastal communities around the world.

Lesson Plan

Essential Questions: What causes sea level rise? How do human impacts on natural resources impact sea level rise?

Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Evaluate and communicate information to analyze human impact on natural resources in terms of sea level rise
  • Construct a claim based on evidence that sea level rise is occurring due to human activities and therefore impacting natural resources
